Snapper is an electronic payment card for buses and trains that provides you with a faster, cheaper, and more flexible payment and travel option.
You can use one Snapper to pay for multiple people on the bus, which can be handy if you’re out with the family. Trains are different - one person per card only, so, bring extra cards or cash. Single cash tickets and Metlink Explorer Day passes can also be purchased on board buses (excluding express buses) and trains.
Concessions
Starting uni soon? Metlink offers a 25% discount on adult fares for eligible full-time tertiary students, on all Metlink services. If you're still in high school, you’re eligible for a child snapper which has a 50% discount. Any concession you have loaded on your Snapper card will work automatically, and you will be charged the discounted fare determined by your concession.
