Accessibility Charter and Action Plan

Accessibility Charter

Metlink is committed to making it easier for disabled people to access public transport across Greater Wellington. The Transport Committee adopted a new Accessibility Charter on September 9th 2021. Improving accessibility is one of the key areas of focus in the 2021 Regional Public Transport Plan.

The Charter is the first step towards realising Metlink’s vision: The Metlink public transport network is accessible for all with ease and dignity.

To implement the Accessibility Charter we have created an Accessibility Action Plan. While creating the Accessibility Action Plan, we worked closely with representatives from the disability community to plan and prioritise improvements to the public transport network.

Accessibility Action Plan

A key commitment of Metlink’s Accessibility Charter is to develop an Accessibility Action Plan which is reviewed annually. This is a plan for prioritising improvements to accessibility on the Metlink network in the coming year and the 2024 GRWC Long Term Plan.
