Extra public transport and free travel for Super Rugby Pacific Grand Final

Tickets & Fares Public Holidays & Events

Fans can use their game ticket to travel on public transport to and from the Super Rugby Pacific Grand Final between the Hurricanes and the Chiefs at Hnry Stadium on Saturday 20 June.

Simply show your ticket when travelling on Metlink trains or buses. This does not include harbour ferries or Te Hunga Whaikaha Total Mobility taxis.

The free travel is majority funded by Greater Wellington with support from Wellington City Council.

Greater Wellington Public Transport Committee Chair Ros Connelly says, “Metlink and the councils are excited to be backing the Hurricanes and are keen to progress the integration of public transport fares with match tickets from next season”.

Fans are advised to travel early before the 7.05pm kickoff, when Metlink services will follow their normal weekend timetables.

Extra trains will run after the game on the Hutt Valley, Kāpiti, and Johnsonville rail lines, but no additional post-match services are scheduled for the Wairarapa and Melling lines.

Larger buses will run on some core bus routes after the game, when Metlink buses and harbour ferries will follow their normal weekend timetables.

Metlink encourages fans to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and check the latest travel information on the Metlink app or website, or by calling 0800 801 700.
