WMUP: Regional Infrastructure Upgrades
Description
Improvements to the safety and capacity of the Wairarapa Line to support the Lower North Island Integrated Mobility (LNIRIM) project.
Works include new passing loops at Maymorn, Woodside and Waingawa. There will also be a new signalling system between Featherston and Masterton, a new stabling yard at Masterton and upgrades to level crossings.
Benefits
A more reliable network with increased frequency and faster trains to keep up with demand. A more comfortable experience for commuters.
Customer Impact
Buses will replace some train services, mostly during weekends and public holidays.

Work underway in preparation for arrival of LNIRIM new hybrid trains. Currently engaging community on level crossing closures.
