We're reviewing bus services across the Hutt Valley to make sure the network continues to work well for you now and in the future.
As part of this, we're looking at how to balance accessibility and affordability while providing a network that meets the community's needs. Some services may change, some may reduce, and some new connections are being considered. Before any decisions are made, we want to hear what matters most to you.

About the review
We're considering a range of options
No decisions have been made. We're seeking feedback on a range of proposed changes before recommendations are developed for Council.
We need to understand community priorities
We're interested in what matters most to communities when balancing affordability, frequency, coverage, connections and access to services.
The proposal includes both improvements and reductions
The options include a mix of proposed service changes, service reductions and new connections designed to better meet current and future travel needs.

What's being proposed?
The proposed changes are outlined below, with services grouped by area across the Hutt Valley.

Lower Hutt and Western Hills
Better bus and rail connections at Petone. Fewer services on some routes.

Route change
We are proposing a route change and a reduction in service frequency. The route would be extended to serve Waterloo, Waiwhetū and Wainuiomata, providing new direct connections to key destinations including Hutt Hospital.
121 Stokes Valley - Naenae - Lower Hutt - Seaview
Route change
We are proposing a route change that would extend the service to Petone, improving connections for passengers travelling to and from Gracefield, Stokes Valley, Waiwhetū and Western Hills.
130 Naenae – Waterloo - Lower Hutt - Petone
Service change
Monday to Friday buses are proposed to reduce in frequency from every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes. Saturday buses to reduced to every 30 minutes to align with train frequencies.
145 Lower Hutt - Waterloo - Epuni - Belmont
Service change
We are proposing to remove Saturday services on Route 145.
150 Petone - Maungaraki - Lower Hutt - Kelson
Route and service change
We are proposing to reduce the frequency of Route 150 services and make changes to the route.
154 Petone - Korokoro - Petone
Service change
We are proposing to remove Saturday services on Route 154.
Upper Hutt
A simplified network with a mix of service improvements and reductions.

We are proposing changes to how often services run and to the routes they follow.
Less frequent daytime services
Between Upper Hutt and Petone (reduced to 20 mins weekdays, and 30 mins on Saturdays).
Merge with route 112
We are proposing to remove Route 112 and replace it with an extended Route 110.
111 Upper Hutt - Totara Park - Upper Hutt
Route change
We are proposing a route change that would remove the Totara Park double loop on off-peak services. Peak services would remain unchanged.
113 - Riverstone Terraces - Upper Hutt
Service change
We are proposing to reduce Route 113 to school-time services only. All existing services would be withdrawn.
115 Upper Hutt - Pinehaven - Upper Hutt
Route change
We are proposing a route change to better serve Alexander Drive and the Wallaceville Estate.
Wainuiomata
More direct links to Hutt Hospital, Petone, Gracefield and train services, with some changes to existing routes.

Route change
We are proposing to remove Route 160 and replace it with an extended Route 120, which would serve Wainuiomata Road, Fitzherbert Road, Wise Street and Wellington Road.
170 Lower Hutt - Wainuiomata - Lower Hutt
Route change
We are proposing to change the route so that services travel via Parkway with extra early morning and evening buses.
Eastern Bays
Maintaining access while reducing some underused services. Improve ferry connections and access to Wainuiomata.

We are proposing a route change that would see half of all services start and end in Wainuiomata. There would be no change to service through Petone.
83 Eastbourne - Lower Hutt - Petone - Wellington
Service change
We are proposing less frequent services and operating hours on Route 83, including:
- Reducing weekday services between Wellington and Lower Hutt to every 30 minutes.
- Reducing daytime and weekend services between Eastbourne and Lower Hutt to every 60 minutes.
- Extending operating hours to partially replace After Midnight services.

We are proposing to extend some morning services to start from Waterloo Station, providing access to Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School.
886 - Harbour View - Hutt Central Schools (Primary and High Schools)
We are proposing to remove this service. Students would be able to use Route 83 instead.
901 - Emerald Hill - Upper Hutt - St Patrick's College
We are proposing to shorten this route so that it ends at Upper Hutt Station. Students travelling from Emerald Hill would be able to use Route 110 to connect with the service.
906 - Plateau & Birchville Schools - Birchville - Brown Owl - Trentham
We are proposing to remove this service. There would be no direct replacement service. This would remove the afternoon connection between Plateau School and Emerald Hill.
915 - Pinehaven - Silverstream, Fergusson Intermediate & Maidstone Intermediate Schools
We are proposing to replace the two buses currently operating this service with a higher-capacity double-decker bus.
916 - Pinehaven - Silverstream School & Upper Hutt College
We are proposing to replace the current bus with a higher-capacity double-decker bus.
929 - Te Marua - Birchville - Oxford Crescent, St Josephs, Fraser Crescent & Maidstone Intermediate Schools
We are proposing to shorten this route so that it ends at Emerald Hill rather than continuing to Te Marua.
930 - Te Marua - Birchville - Timberlea - Heretaunga, Upper Hutt Colleges & Fergusson Intermediate School
We are proposing a vehicle change that will provide afternoon school services using fewer buses by introducing a higher-capacity double decker bus.
951 - Lower Hutt - Avalon - St Patrick’s College & Hutt International Boys’ School
We are proposing a route change to improve safety and remove the need for passengers to wait on the state highway.
