Severe weather impacting public transport services
High wind and heavy rain is impacting public transport services in the Wellington Region today, following a severe weather warning issued by MetService.
Wairarapa bus services and East by West ferries are most impacted. However, all other train and bus services, including the Wairarapa Line, are currently operating to schedule. Normal service levels are expected for the evening commuter peak in the wider region.

Bus:
- Metlink have suspended Route 200 bus services due to severe weather conditions.
- The 6.40pm and 7.30pm Route 200 services from Featherston to Martinborough will operate tonight to meet Wairarapa Line train passengers.
- Wairarapa Metlink school bus services have been cancelled this afternoon.
- Bus operators across Wellington are monitoring the situation. At this stage services are operating to timetable.
Ferry:
- East by West ferries have cancelled all sailings for the rest of the day.
Rail:
- Hutt Valley Line train services have resumed after being bus replaced for approximately an hour, while KiwiRail staff cleared a branch obstructing overhead lines south of Woburn.
