Service Updates > Reduced seating on some Kapiti Line services during morning peak Monday 20 May
Valid from: 19/05/2019 9:00pm
There will be reduced seating on some of our morning Kapiti Line services during Monday morning peak.
- The 6:45am service from Plimmerton to Wellington will be running with 4 carriages instead of the usual 6. Alternative service will depart Plimmerton at 7:09am.
- The 8:45am service from Waikanae to Wellington will be running with 4 carriages instead of the usual 6. Alternative service will depart Waikanae at 9:05am.
We conduct regular inspections of our trains and have structured maintenance programmes for our fleet as well as unplanned repairs. For example, on Thursday 9 May a mechanical fault occurred at Ngauranga station during morning peak. These two carriages have been removed from service for repair. There may be occasions when a higher number of trains require maintenance and repairs. This may cause services to have fewer than normal carriages or on rare occasions, a service to be cancelled. You will see "reduced seating" in some of our alerts or service updates. This is likely to be due to a reduced number of carriages, more crowding and you may want to wait for a later service.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
