Additional bus services I  Extra harbour ferry sailings


The DHL New Zealand Lions is one of the most anticipated events in New Zealand since the Rugby World Cup 2011.

The British & Irish Lions visit Westpac Stadium on Tuesday 27 June to take on the Hurricanes and again on Saturday 1 July 2017 against the mighty All Blacks.

We are running additional services for fans - both local and international - including special Wairarapa services:

The games are scheduled to start at 7:30 pm and are expected to finish at approximately 9:10 pm.


 Special Wairarapa train tickets to the big games

On Tuesday 27 June and Saturday 1 July we will run special train services from Wellington to Masterton departing after the game.

You need to pre-purchase your Rugby Train ticket to travel on these special services. These are return tickets and you will also reserve a seat on the service into Wellington. 

Please note: Metlink tickets including ten trips and monthly passes will NOT be accepted for the special Wairarapa services.

The ticket costs $35 return and can now only be purchased at the Wellington Railway Station ticket office. When booking please specify which service you prefer to take into Wellington and which service you would prefer to take home. 

Tickets are limited so get in quick.

Wairarapa trains will be departing from Platform 2 at Wellington Station after the game.

Kapiti, Hutt Valley and Johnsonville line services

Wellington Event tickets will be valid for these matches and will be available to purchase on the day.

Tuesday 27 June

There will be extra carriages on regular timetabled services on these lines before the game, and special services departing Wellington after the match. Additional services will be operating until 1:00 am.

Saturday 1 July

There will be extra carriages on regular timetabled services on these lines from 10.30am, and special services departing Wellington after the game. Additional services will be operating until 1:00 am. 

Services Affected:
