In 2018, we made big changes to the public transport network in the Wellington Region for the first time in 20 years. Why? Right now, Wellingtonians make 38 million journeys a year on Metlink buses, trains, and ferries, this number will continue to increase in the coming years. We needed to build a more connected network with the potential to grow to meet these needs.

Following the implementation of these changes we undertook a review to look at what works well and what changes may need to be made. L.E.K Consulting Australia were commissioned and undertook a post implementation review in December 2018. The largest part of this programme involved a review of the bus network design.

We also asked you, the Wellington community to give us your views on what needs to change, what could be improved and have engaged with interested customers across the city through a range of activities including focus groups, public drop-in workshops and online surveys as part of the Bus Network Review.

We're listening to our customers' feedback. You deserve a reliable network and we’re working hard to make that happen as we continue to refine and improve the network based on your feedback and our research.
