Wellington city buses

200 (Martinborough, Featherston and Masterton) We’ve introduced a new Sunday bus service for the route 200 which runs between Martinborough, Featherston and Masterton.
204 Saturday service (Greytown – Woodside)

The route 204 has been discontinued on Saturdays, but there is no change to the weekday service for route 204.

Customers wishing to connect by bus to/from the train on Saturdays need to catch the route 200 between Greytown and Featherston Station (instead of Woodside Station). 
205 (Martinborough – Featherston)  The 205 bus service has been renumbered to the route 200 bus service.

New bus service for Riverstone Terraces

From Monday 18 June 2018, there is a new weekday service for Riverstone Terraces:

  • The new Riverstone Terraces route 113 has four bus trips into Upper Hutt in the morning and then four return bus trips in the afternoon and evening. The 113 replaces the current 114 "hail and ride" school-time only bus service for this area. Twelve new bus stops have been installed
  • Use Route 113 to get to Heretaunga College, with stops nearby on Fergusson Drive

210 – Titahi Bay
From Sunday 15 July 2018, this service runs from Titahi Bay to Porirua Station, where you can connect to a bus or train to continue your journey. We made this change to improve reliability on this route. Use your Snapper card to transfer at no extra cost between Metlink buses.
210 /211  Tawa 210 (between Titahi Bay and Johnsonville) and 211 (limited weekday-only service between Porirua and Wellington city) services have been replaced by new routes 60 and 60e (see below). 
60 – Tawa - Johnsonville
New 7 day a week service between Porirua, Kenepuru Hospital, Tawa and Johnsonville, runs every 20 minutes on weekdays instead of 30 minutes. Connect to a bus or train at Porirua or Johnsonville to continue your journey. 
60e – Porirua / Tawa / Johnsonville Wellington
This service runs during peak times between Porirua, Kenepuru Hospital, Johnsonville and Courtenay Place in Wellington city. This service provides more trips at peak times. Use route 60 when travelling at off-peak times.(external link)
430 – Brandon Intermediate School & Porirua College - Porirua East - Porirua
New Metlink school bus service for Porirua East to and from Porirua College and Brandon Intermediate.
455, 460, 462 and 465 School bus routes 455, 460 and 462 have been merged into school bus route 465.
400, 401, 403, 405 These non-Metlink commercial school services are discontinued from end of Term 2.

Minor changes to all Porirua bus timetables

We have made minor changes to bus timetables in Porirua for connections with the new train timetable.

 281 (Waikanae) Route 281, which currently covers Waikanae town, now extends to cover Waikanae East. 
 290 (Ōtaki) 

More buses between Ōtaki and Waikanae:

  • Weekdays – increased from 6 to 8 bus trips between Ōtaki and Waikanae each weekday
  • Weekends – increased from 2 to 5 bus trips between Ōtaki and Waikanae on both Saturday and Sunday
 264 (Paraparaumu East)  Look out for a Metlink lemon and lime bus instead of a van. This means there is room for wheelchairs and buggies, and you can ask the driver to lower the step for easier access. You also have the option of using your Snapper card to pay your fare and transfer between Metlink buses at no extra cost. 
 251 (Paekākāriki) Look out for a Metlink lemon and lime bus instead of a van. This means there is room for wheelchairs and buggies, and you can ask the driver to lower the step for easier access. Rail services

We now have a new rail timetable with increased off-peak services on the Hutt Valley and Kāpiti lines. We have rejigged our bus timetables so you don’t have to rush or wait too long when catching a connecting bus or train.

Hutt Valley Line (HVL) and Kāpiti Line (KPL) – More frequent trains on weekdays between 9am and 3pm, with a train every 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes on the Hutt Valley and Kāpiti lines. We have also made small improvements to timetables for peak rail services and we have reworked bus timetables for connections with the new rail timetable.

Johnsonville Line (JVL) – There are minor changes to departure times at some stations:

  • Inbound journeys depart one minute earlier from Raroa, and one minute later from Awarua Street and Crofton Downs
  • Outbound journeys depart one minute later from Crofton Downs

Wairarapa Line (WRL) – Minor changes were made to the Wairarapa Line (WRL) rail timetable and bus timetables for routes 200 and 204 were changed for connections with the new rail timetable:

  • 10.44am train from Masterton to Wellington leaves 14 minutes earlier, departing at 10.30am
  • 12.55pm service from Wellington leaves 10 minutes earlier, departing at 12.45pm
