You may have noticed your journey on the Kapiti Line is taking a little bit longer.

There is approximately a four-minute delay on each journey. This is due to speed restrictions in place in the No 2 Tawa tunnel. Trains are required to slow to 25 km/hour when entering the tunnel.

The recent earthquake or floods damaged a drain  which we are repairing at night and during weekends. We also need to realign the track. We made significant progress over the last weekend and we are anticipating the speed restriction being increased to 40 km/hour towards the end of the week.

The track is safe to use and the speed restrictions are ensuring that the formations supporting the track aren't damaged further.
