A new, safe bus shelter is to be installed on Lyttelton Avenue in order to modernise the facilities and upgrade existing infrastructure in the area.  

The work will begin at bus stop #2008 Lyttelton Avenue - Countdown (opposite) on 8 June 2015 for approximately 2 weeks.
Due to bad weather construction has suffered some delays and the completion date will now be mid-late July 2015.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this delay.

Services that use this bus stop will not be affected; however the Real Time Information screen at this location will be unavailable during the construction period.  You can still access Real Time Information from the Metlink website, Android widget, or by calling the Metlink Service Centre on 0800 801 700.

Why is the shelter being replaced?

Lyttelton Avenue is an important public transport hub and a new shelter is being installed as part of a wider modernisation programme.

When will the work begin?

Work is due to begin on Monday 8 June 2015 and will take around two weeks to complete.

Are bus services affected during the construction?

No.  All services using this bus stop will continue to run during the construction period.  Buses will stop a little bit shorter from the shelter location within the bus stop.

Where can I find alternative shelter and seating during the construction?

While the shelter is being replaced there will be a slight drop in the numbers of seats available.  Alternative seating and shelter is still available at the public toilet facility which is right next to the bus stop.

Does the new shelter increase or decrease seating?

The new shelter will have more seating capacity than the previous brick shelter, it also has a leaning bench in the middle section which is all under cover.

What's happening with Real Time Information at this bus stop?

The Real Time Information screen has been removed from this stop to prepare for the installation of the new shelter. You can still access Real Time Information from the Metlink website, Android widget, or by calling the Metlink Service Centre on 0800 801 700. The screen will be put back in place when the new shelter has been installed.
