Construction starts on Living Pā bus shelter at Victoria University, Te Herenga Waka

Metlink is excited to announce the start of construction for the new bus shelter that will be installed at Victoria University building outside 32 Kelburn Parade, close to the Murphy Annex Building. Preparation for construction started in early May 2023, and the shelter is expected to open in September 2023.
The shelter design includes colour and graphic design, a living roof to provide a natural location for local birds, bees and insects, real time information display within the shelter for information on Metlink bus services, seating, CCTV and new internal lighting to improve safety for our customers.
The new shelter has been designed in partnership with Taranaki Whanui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika, shelter manufacturer Designbrand, Victoria University, and Wellington City Council.
Temporary bus stop during construction
The current location of bus stop 4915 Wellington University - Stop A(external link) (outside 14a Kelburn Parade) is temporary while the construction of the permanent bus stop is underway. A container-style shelter for the temporary stop is anticipated to be installed in mid-June.
