Park & Ride car parks are available at many Metlink railway stations for public transport users travelling that day.

Car parks are uncovered and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spaces cannot be reserved, so we recommend arriving early.

Vehicles cannot be left overnight.

Most Park & Ride car parks are monitored by CCTV.

There are no gates or set opening hours.
Some stations also have public parking nearby. These areas may have time limits or parking fees, so always check the signs and road markings before parking.

Mobility parks
The number of mobility parking spaces is in proportion to the total number of car parking spaces at most Park & Ride facilities.There is at least one mobility parking space in each Park & Ride, excluding Taita and Melling.
Carpool parks
There are carpool parking spaces in preferred parking areas. They are intended for vehicles with two or more people arriving at the station who all intend to continue their journey on the train. Terms & conditions
Park & Ride car parks are free to use for public transport customers. Terms and conditions apply and are clearly displayed at car park entrances and listed below.
If you go against these terms and conditions, we can clamp or tow your vehicle. If this has happened to your vehicle, our authorised towing company is Valley Parking Services Ltd. You can contact them for removal of a clamp or to retrieve your vehicle on 0800 25 26 70.
Important notice to people entering Metlink Park and Ride car parks
By entering this car park you agree to the conditions set out below.
If you do not accept these conditions, then you must immediately leave the car park. These conditions apply from the moment that you enter this car park and apply 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
By entering this car park you also bind the owner of the vehicle you are driving to all these conditions and warrant your authority to do so.
- Rules for use of car park
You agree to the following car park rules:
- You must comply with all rules or directions displayed in the car park from time to time and with all relevant laws.
- You must comply with all laws, regulations and rules that apply when operating your vehicle in this car park. In particular, vehicles must be operated safely, with due care and consideration, and cannot be operated in a reckless or dangerous manner.
- You must comply with any instructions or directions given by any car park security personnel appointed by us or any other person acting on our behalf.
- You must not obstruct other persons or vehicles using the car park.
- You must not park in any area marked “reserved” or “staff only” unless especially allocated to you.
- You must not park in any area marked “no parking” or marked with broken yellow lines.
- You must not park outside of line marked bays.
- The placing and distribution of advertising material in this car park, or on vehicles is prohibited unless you have our prior written permission and authorisation to do so.
- You must not hold events or activities of any type without our prior written permission and authorisation.
- You must not park in a mobility bay without a current mobility window pass.
- You must not camp or park recreational vehicles overnight.
- You must not park your vehicle within the car park with the intention to sell the vehicle at any time.
- These rules of use also apply to any passengers and other users of your vehicle.
- The only vehicles you are authorised to park in the car park are vehicles which:
- are roadworthy and able at all times to be driven under their own power;
- do not present any danger or risk to other vehicles, persons or the car park; and
- are parked by a genuine bus and / or rail commuter.
- Abandonment of vehicle or items
If a vehicle or any other physical item is left in the car park for more than 24 hours without our express permission, we may:
- issue a warning notice in regard to the vehicle or item;
- issue a Breach Notice in regard to the vehicle or item; and
- deem the vehicle or item abandoned and remove the vehicle or item if it is not removed within the 48 hour period specified in the Breach Notice.
- Contravention of terms
If you contravene any of the rules and conditions set out at clauses 1 and 2, we may:
- issue a breach notice (“Breach Notice”) specifying the nature of the breach, by attaching the Breach Notice to the vehicle or item;
- authorise immediate removal of the vehicle or item by an Authorised Towing Company at the owners cost, if:
- the vehicle or item is deemed by us to be abandoned;
- the vehicle or item is obstructing other persons or vehicles using the car park,
- the vehicle or item is causing safety concerns for other persons or vehicles using the car park; or
- more than one Breach Notices have been issued to the vehicle or item.
3.1. By parking here:
If you contravene any of the rules and conditions at clauses 1 to 2, you authorise us (at your cost) to move your vehicle or other item anywhere even if the Vehicle or item is locked. Should we remove your vehicle or item the removal shall be entirely at your risk and expense.
You agree that the vehicle or item will only be released upon payment of the removal costs.
We accept no liability for any claim by you or any other person for any loss or damage caused as a result of the removal.
- Responsibility for damage
- You are liable for any damage to the car park caused by your vehicle or any other item that you bring to the car park, including damage caused by oil or other substances.
- While we shall take all reasonable care, we cannot guarantee the security of your vehicle or any other items.
- CCTV cameras may be in operation at this car park and are used to assist and deter theft and damage caused by others (our CCTV policy statement, is available on request).
- We accept no liability for any claim by you or any other person, whether for loss or damage to you or any other person or to your vehicle, any item or any other vehicle, whether resulting from using the car park or being unable to use the car park or from our negligence or otherwise.
- You agree to indemnify us in respect of any claim made against us arising from your use of the car park.
- Who has rights under this agreement?
All our rights under this agreement are also for the benefit of and enforceable by our employees and agents and the owner of the car park.
Your rights under this agreement are for your benefit only.
Nothing contained in this agreement limits or restricts any statutory right or remedy that may be available to you.
When you are using this car park for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply.
- Waiver
If we fail to act on or pursue any right or remedy available to us this will not in any way prejudice our right to exercise that or any other right or remedy.
- Will these conditions ever change?
We may amend any of these conditions at any time.
- Other agreements
If there is any inconsistency between these conditions and those contained in any other written agreement which you have entered into with us, the conditions contained in that other agreement will prevail.
- Interpretation
To avoid any confusion as to the meaning of these conditions:
Authorised Towing Company is Valley Parking Services Ltd, and can be contacted for return of your vehicle at 0800 25 26 70.
claim includes any claim for damage, loss or compensation; and any demand, remedy, liability or action.
damage includes direct, indirect, consequential and special damage.
item is any unauthorised item (other than a vehicle) that is in the car park.
vehicle is any car, van, truck, motor cycle, motor scooter or bicycle and includes its accessories and contents.
we and us mean:
- Greater Wellington Rail Limited (GWRL) as the lessee and / or owner of the car park land including GWRL’s employees, agents, independent contractors and contracted service providers to GWRL, and
- Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) trading as Metlink and as the manager appointed by GWRL including GWRC’s employees, agents, independent contractors and contracted service providers to GWRC.
you includes both the driver and the owner of a vehicle entering this car park.
your vehicle means the vehicle which you are driving, regardless of whether it is owned by you.
