  • Children aged 5 to 15. Children under 5 years travel free.
  • Secondary school students aged 16 to 19 in school uniform or on production of a current school photo ID.

10-trip tickets

Zonal child 10-trip tickets for Tranz Metro are available from ticket agencies, giving you up to a 20% discount off the individual cash fare.

School term passes

This pass is available to full-time primary and secondary school students for travel between school and the station nearest their home. School students without a pass are required to pay a child fare. Passes that are valid for use before 1 October 2010 will be sold at the price above. Monthly tickets valid for use on or after 1 October 2010, but bought before that date, will be sold at the new price.

Bus

10-trip tickets

Zonal child 10-trip tickets for GO Wellington and some other operators are available from ticket outlets, giving you a 20% discount off the individual cash fare.

GO Wellington Child ten-trip tickets will no longer be sold from Monday 12 October 2009. You can use your ten-trip ticket up to and including 31 December 2009. You can apply for a refund of the value remaining on your ten-trip ticket anytime up to 30 June 2010. Refund forms are available on board the bus and from the GO Wellington website. Children can now pay by Snapper and receive a 20 per cent discount off the single child fare.

Bus King - $80.00

Unlimited travel for one calendar month for primary and secondary school children on GO Wellington and Vallery Flyer services in Wellington City (zones 1 -3). The Bus King cannot be used on After Midnight services, Airport Flyer or Valley Flyer services (within zones 4-8). School ID may be required.
